Hello, lovely cardmakers! Cardmaking for guys is notoriously tricky. If you see one more card with a generic fishing rod or a tie, you might lose your mind…not really I love those too. That is why the new Checkmate collection from Spellbinders is a total lifesaver. It lets you skip the clichés and build something unique.
For this project, I skipped the soft pastels and went straight for a bold, classic board game aesthetic. Using the main bundle, I built a structured design featuring die-cut red and black checkers.

To give the background some serious texture, I paired the Harlequin stencil with a matching 3D embossing folder. The layers fit together seamlessly, making the final card look like a high-end, tactile game board. For the text, I combined the new Well Played Sentiments stamp and die set with an old favorite “Dad” stamp from my stash. It is the perfect mix of shiny new supplies and trusted craft room favorites.
So grab a cup of coffee, gather your supplies and let’s get crafty! Thanks so much for stopping by, wishing you a day filled with crafty supplies, love, laughter and smiles! Sending crafty hugs, Tina. 💌
