Let’s Get Scribbly and Texturize! A 5 Step Christmas Card Tutorial

Hello there, crafty cardmaking friends!

Ready to add some handmade magic to your holiday greetings? Grab your favorite festive tunes and let’s get crafting! This playful tutorial will show you how to use the super-fun Tim Holtz Scribbly Christmas Cling Stamp set and coordinating Simon Says Stamp dies to make a snow-tastic card in five easy steps. We’re talking textured bricks, sparkly snow (hello, mica flakes!), and cute little trees. Let’s do this!

Step 1: Trees, please! (Creating the focal image)

First up, the stars of the show! Grab your Tim Holtz Scribbly Christmas tree stamps and some white cardstock, let’s do some gold heat embossing. Color those babies up with your favorite colors using Copic Markers for that lush, dimensional look. Use your coordinating Simon Says Stamp Scribbly Christmas dies to cut them out perfectly. Voilà—your little forest is ready to play!

Step 2: Bricks & Snow (The textured home panel)

Time to get messy! Lay a brick-patterned stencil over your card panel. Grab that texture paste and a palette knife and slick it on. Don’t be shy! While it’s still nice and wet, sprinkle those mica flakes like you mean it. The flakes will catch the light and give you that perfect, glistening snowy brick wall effect. Let this dry completely before moving on—patience is a virtue!

Step 3: Say it with gold (Adding the greeting)

Pick your favorite festive message from the Scribbly Christmas stamp set. This set has a bunch of cute, greetings to choose from! Stamp your sentiment onto a small piece of cardstock. A pop of gold heat embossing works wonders against our snowy scene.

Step 4: Splatter it (The background)

Give your window the spotlight it deserves! Ink a subtle amount of blue on your cardbase, it makes the Splatter stand out, or maybe a deep emerald green or a cheery red. The sky is the limit. It makes your card look super professional and really highlights those awesome Scribbly Christmas trees.

Step 5: Assemble & Embellish (Bells and whistles)

Adhere your stamped and die-cut trees to the background using foam adhesive to give them extra dimension. Attach your greeting to the card front at the base of the window. For the final embellishments, tie a piece of rustic gold twine to the top of the card and add a few sparkling gems to the trees for extra festive sparkle.
