The holiday crafting season has begun, and the new November Pawder Day Release from Waffle Flower offers festive inspiration. The Snowcapped Pinecone Bundle was used to create something special.
This project uses a cozy, rustic vintage feel. It includes gold glitter sparkle and texture. The result is a card that feels warm, nostalgic, and perfect for the season.
The Vision: Pinecones as Ornaments
The Snowcapped Pinecone Bundle creates natural-looking, snow-dusted pinecones. The pinecones are delicate, shimmering ornaments nestled among the pine boughs. The pinecones were ink blended and die cut on kraft cardstock. Gold glitter was added to the top of the pinecone scales, making them shimmer beautifully like vintage ornaments hanging on a tree. It’s the perfect touch of sparkle that makes a Christmas card feel truly special.
The Vintage Foundation
To achieve that rustic vintage look, I started with kraft cardstock. The natural, earthy tone is the perfect backdrop for the design. A scripty print stamp was used over the stencil for the background. This vintage touch added depth without overpowering the main focal points.
Texture & Snow-capped Magic
To bring the “snowcapped” element to life and add even more tactile texture, Distress Texture Paste and Distress Mica Flakes were used.
- Applying the Paste: The Distress Texture Paste was dabbed onto the tips “snowcaps” of the pinecones. This created a realistic, dimensional snow effect.
- Adding the Flakes: While the paste was still wet, the Distress Mica Flakes were sprinkled on. These flakes catch the light beautifully and provide that rough, icy texture of real snow.
The Finishing Touches
A simple sentiment and a few final strategically placed gold glitter accents completed the design. The overall effect is a card that is tactile, visually rich, and exudes a warm, handmade charm.
